Porky est un cochon vulnérable, modeste et attachant. Sa caractéristique principale est son bégaiement. Ses aventures sont un prétexte à le déguiser dans divers accoutrements (noble, détective privé, toréador, pompier, etc). C'est un personnage simple qui partage ses aventures le plus souvent avec Daffy dont les travers humains pimentent leur relation...

Quand on sait que les jeunes camarades de Fritz Freleng ont pour nom, Tex Avery, Robert Clampett et Chuck Jones, on comprend mieux pourquoi Porky a été le premier grand succès de l'histoire Warner... Les directeurs d’animation vedettes du Studio ont ainsi raffiné Porky au fil des épisodes, lui donnant un regard plus attrayant tandis que Mel Blanc, le comédien mythique du Studio Warner, a remplacé Joe Dougherty car son bégaiement était plus convaincant ! Ce défaut de prononciation a démarqué et sublimé Porky du reste de la production concurrente dans les années 30 et les années 40, le rendant irrésistible.

Porky est associé avec Daffy dans ses aventures à partir des années 40, mais ce n'est que dans les années 50 que le couple fonctionne à merveille, période à laquelle les autres Merrie Melodies atteignaient également la perfection.
